Ukrainian drones have been causing chaos in the Black Sea region, targeting crucial grain export terminals. The latest attack occurred on July 30 at the Port of Taman, operated by Demetra, one of Russia's largest grain exporters. According to Reuters, the terminal has an annual handling capacity of 5 million tons and is a vital link for Russia's grain exports.

The damage was significant, but Demetra declined to comment on the extent of the damage. This attack comes amid escalating tensions between Ukraine and Russia over export infrastructure in the Black Sea region. In recent weeks, both sides have repeatedly targeted port facilities, agricultural terminals, and commercial vessels, increasing risks for agricultural trade.

Shipping through the Sea of Azov and the Kerch Strait has been suspended since July 10 due to drone attacks, forcing exporters to redirect cargo flows. Russian exporters have shifted grain shipments from southern regions to deep-water Black Sea terminals using road and rail transport, but this has created additional challenges for exports.

The international wheat market is closely monitoring these developments, as Russia remains the world's largest wheat exporter, while Ukraine is one of the key global grain suppliers. Reuters also reported that Ukrainian drones struck a sunflower oil export terminal at the Port of Taman owned by Efko on July 30, with minor damage.
