Russia's Grain Exports Crash Amid Port Congestion
Russian grain exports have plummeted due to severe port logistics disruptions.
The Foreign Intelligence Service (FIS) reported a sharp decline in outbound shipments of Russian grain between Aug. 1 and Aug. 20, with a drop of 2.5-fold to 1.4 million metric tons.
This has led to a significant build-up of domestic grain inventories, causing internal prices for wheat, barley, sunflower seeds, and soybeans to tumble by between 3.3% and 8.5% in just one week.
The FIS notes that Rostov Oblast, which accounts for about one-tenth of Russia's total harvest, is particularly affected.
