Russia's Oil Industry Hit as Ukraine Strikes Refinery and Drone Facility
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has confirmed an attack on two key Russian facilities. On September 14-15, Ukrainian defense forces struck the Syzran Oil Refinery and the Atlant Aero facility in Russia.
The Syzran Oil Refinery, part of Rosneft Oil Company PJSC, is a major oil refining plant with a processing capacity of approximately 8.9 million tonnes per year. The refinery produces petrol, diesel, aviation fuel, and other petroleum products, including supplies for the Russian Armed Forces.
Units of Ukraine's defense forces hit the AVT-6 primary crude oil distillation unit and the tank farm at Syzran Oil Refinery, resulting in a fire breaking out on the facility's territory. The Special Operations Forces (SOF) confirmed that several drones reached their targets, causing significant damage.
The Atlant Aero company, also targeted by Ukrainian forces, specializes in producing unmanned aerial vehicles and their components. The facility is involved in supplying UAVs to the Russian Armed Forces.
