The S&P 500 index reached its highest intraday level yet, driven by gains in major stocks. The Nasdaq also hit its best intraday mark since mid-February, buoyed by tech sector performance.

Although both indices have retraced some of their gains, they remain firmly in positive territory. The S&P 500 is currently up 56 points or 0.7 percent at 7,804.50, while the Nasdaq has risen 240 points or 0.9 percent to 26,828.49.

The surge in stock prices comes as crude oil prices plummeted on Thursday. This mixed market performance may indicate a shift in investor sentiment and could have implications for asset allocation strategies.
