SA-Zimbabwe Trade Ties Highlighted Through Agricultural Exports

A recent business forum between South Africa and Zimbabwe highlighted the significant value of agriculture in their bilateral trade. The discussions focused on deepening value addition in both countries to achieve a more balanced trade.

Zimbabwe is a crucial export market for South African agricultural products, ranking second only to the Netherlands. In 2025, South Africa exported agricultural products worth US$1.2 billion to Zimbabwe, accounting for about 8% of its total agricultural exports. This value equals that of the Middle East or BRICS countries.

The key agricultural export products to Zimbabwe are mainly maize, soybeans, prepared foods, bottled water, and other processed goods. In contrast, South Africa's agricultural exports to other regions include fruits, wine, nuts, meat, and grains, which are less processed.
