Samsung Heavy Industries Secures Record-Breaking Orders for Six Vessels
Samsung Heavy Industries has secured contracts for six vessels worth approximately 1.65 trillion won (around $1.2 billion), exceeding its commercial ship order target by 28%.
The company signed deals with an Oceania-based shipowner to build four large liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers and two crude oil tankers.
The LNG carriers will have a capacity of 200,000 cubic meters, larger than the standard model, offering advantages in operational efficiency for long-haul routes.
This order brings Samsung Heavy Industries' cumulative commercial ship order intake to $7.3 billion (around 9.82 trillion won), surpassing last year's annual total and representing a significant increase from its target of $5.7 billion (around 7.67 trillion won).
