Samsung Heavy Industries Surpasses Annual Shipbuilding Target with Crude Oil Tanker Orders
Samsung Heavy Industries has secured two new orders for crude oil tankers from a European shipowner, worth 268 billion won. The vessels are scheduled to be delivered by August 2029.
The company's cumulative shipbuilding orders this year have reached 34 vessels worth $5.8 billion, exceeding its annual target of $5.7 billion by 102%.
By vessel type, the orders include 14 liquefied natural gas carriers, two ethane carriers, four gas carriers, two container ships, and 12 crude oil tankers. The company also has orders for two Floating Liquefied Natural Gas Production Facilities (FLNG) in the offshore segment.
An official at Samsung Heavy Industries stated that the company will focus on selective orders centered on profitability and respond flexibly to changes in demand through global operations.
