Samsung Heavy Industries Wins Major Order for Six Vessels from Oceania Shipowner

Samsung Heavy Industries has secured a significant order for six vessels from a shipowner in Oceania, worth a total of 1.6476 trillion won.

The order includes four liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers and two crude oil tankers, with the LNG carriers being 200,000-cubic-meter class vessels that surpass the standard model in terms of cargo tank capacity.

This order brings Samsung Heavy Industries' accumulated LNG carrier orders for this year to 18 vessels, with a total value of $1 billion. The company has also secured other orders, including two ethane carriers, four gas carriers, and 14 crude oil tankers.

The overall institutional sector performance in merchant ships has surpassed last year's results, with Samsung Heavy Industries securing orders for a total of 42 merchant ships worth $7.3 billion this year, exceeding the previous year's $7.1 billion and surpassing this year's order target of $5.7 billion by 28%.

A Samsung Heavy Industries official stated that 'This large LNG carrier order reflects our active response to the shipowner's long-haul transport needs.' The company will continue to pursue selective orders that align with customer demand and convenience, focusing on profitability.
