San Diego Gas Prices Hit Record High Amid Ongoing Iran War

The average price of self-serve regular gasoline in San Diego County has broken its Labor Day record, reaching $5.95 per gallon.

This surpasses the previous high set in 2023 at $5.38 per gallon.

The price increase is largely attributed to the joint U.S.-Israel war on Iran, which began in February and led to a significant rise in oil prices.

Crude oil traffic through the Strait of Hormuz has plummeted, with Iran refusing to reopen the waterway.

National average gas price also hit a record high at $4.15 per gallon on Labor Day, breaking the old record of $3.82 set in 2012.
