Sapphire Acquires EDGE LNG to Bolster Distributed Energy Infrastructure
Sapphire Gas Solutions has expanded its presence in the distributed energy infrastructure market by acquiring EDGE LNG. The acquisition adds approximately 200,000 gallons per day of liquefaction capacity to Sapphire's existing transportation, storage, and distribution operations.
EDGE LNG provides liquefaction, delivery, and vaporization services using modular and mobile LNG equipment, with its assets currently serving customers in the southern United States. The company's equipment is designed for rapid deployment and scalable production, making it ideal for distributed energy applications where traditional infrastructure is unavailable or insufficient.
Sapphire Gas Solutions' CEO, Sam Thigpen, stated that the acquisition advances the company's strategy of developing a vertically integrated LNG supply business capable of controlling natural gas supply from production through transportation and delivery to the customer. By acquiring EDGE LNG, Sapphire aims to reduce its reliance on third-party providers while increasing flexibility and accountability to customers.
The acquisition is expected to support Sapphire's growth, according to Salil Oberoi, partner at Blue Water Energy, who stated that EDGE is a natural fit within Sapphire's suite of turnkey gas supply solutions. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
