Sapphire Expands Southwest LNG Footprint with Spectrum Acquisition
Sapphire Gas Solutions has expanded its presence in the US Southwest by acquiring select assets from Spectrum LNG, a small-scale liquefied natural gas (LNG) producer. The acquisition includes the Desert Gas LNG Plant in Ehrenberg, Arizona, and a development site in Stroud, Oklahoma.
The Desert Gas LNG Plant has approximately 100,000 gallons of LNG storage capacity and can produce around 76,000 gallons per day. The facility supplies LNG to municipal, commercial, and industrial customers across the region.
Sapphire's CEO Sam Thigpen said the acquisition provides an established production base at a time when demand for flexible and reliable natural gas continues to increase. Vertical integration will allow Sapphire to manage the LNG molecule from production and transportation through to the final customer, potentially improving supply-chain efficiency and strengthening its competitive position.
