Sarawak Surpasses Malaysia in Palm Oil Production Growth

Sarawak has taken the lead in Malaysia's crude palm oil production growth, increasing by 7.8% to 4.5 million tonnes in 2025. According to Plantation and Commodities Minister Datuk Seri Dr Noraini Ahmad, Sarawak produced 22.2% of the country's total CPO production, surpassing other regions.

The minister highlighted that productivity in Sarawak's palm oil sector has also shown positive development, with an increase in oil extraction rate (OER) from 19.37% to 19.51%, and fresh fruit bunch yield increasing from 14.89 tonnes per hectare to 15.98 tonnes per hectare.

Noraini emphasized that increased productivity should be followed by efforts to strengthen value creation, ensuring the benefits of industry growth are enjoyed more widely. She also stressed the importance of leveraging technology, including AI, big data analytics, and digitalization, to improve efficiency and competitiveness in the milling sector.
