Saudi Air Defences Intercept Ballistic Missiles Targeting Oil Refineries
Saudi Arabia and Houthi forces have exchanged fire in a new escalation of the Iran war, with air defence systems intercepting two ballistic missiles targeting oil refineries in Yanbu. The Saudi-led coalition said it struck Houthi military sites in Hodeidah linked to attacks on shipping by the group, which has declared a naval blockade of Saudi Arabia.
According to Greek security sources, the intercepted missiles were fired from Yemen on Saturday, with one targeting an oil refinery in Yanbu and the other heading towards Jizan. The Saudi Civil Defense issued warnings for both cities, but later said the danger had passed.
Aramco, the state-owned oil giant, did not comment on the incidents, but video shared on social media showed a large column of smoke rising from the direction of the refinery in Jizan. Two Asia-based trading sources confirmed some damage at the site.
