Saudi Arabia is facing a difficult dilemma in its efforts to stay out of the US-Iran war. Despite being attacked from three sides, the kingdom has largely tried to avoid direct involvement.

The situation escalated this week when Saudi Arabia carried out joint strikes with the US on Iranian proxy militias in Iraq that they believe have been launching drones at the Kingdom.

The Saudis are now weighing whether to continue hitting back as a deterrent or try to de-escalate the situation, perhaps by paying off some of their adversaries. The conflict has also raised concerns about the vulnerability of Saudi Arabia's critical national infrastructure to attack, including its oil facilities.
