Saudi Arabia Cornered as Houthis Make Gains in Yemen Conflict
The conflict between Saudi Arabia and the Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen has reached a critical juncture, leaving Riyadh with few options to respond. The Houthis' swift advances in recent days have captured key strategic locations, including Perim Island and the port town of Mocha, putting pressure on Saudi Arabia's oil pipeline.
Nasr al-Din Amer, head of the Houthi-run state news agency Saba, stated that the group will continue to 'pressure' Saudi Arabia until they 'break the siege unjustly imposed by the Saudi enemy for 12 years.'
Despite the Houthis' advances, Saudi Arabia has not yet responded with full force, raising questions about its next moves. The kingdom's actions in the coming days could mean a return to all-out war, as well as having major consequences for the US-Iran conflict.
