Saudi Arabia Foils Drone Attack on Oil Infrastructure, Tensions Escalate with Houthis
Saudi Arabia's defense ministry reported intercepting drones launched by pro-Iran groups in Iraq on July 27, 2026. The drones targeted petroleum facilities in eastern areas of Saudi Arabia and the capital Riyadh.
The ministry stated that 'terrorist attempts were launched from Iraqi territory and carried out by Iranian-backed terrorist militias.'
Riyadh demanded that Iraq take necessary measures to prevent attacks from its territory, according to a separate statement posted by an official Saudi broadcaster.
