Saudi Arabia Halts Energy Sites Amid Fresh Houthi Attacks
Saudi Arabia's energy facilities have been halted after the Iran-backed Houthi militants claimed to have launched fresh strikes on the kingdom.
The attacks, which targeted Saudi Aramco's facilities in Abha, Najran, and Jazan, caused fires at several locations, with efforts ongoing to contain the blazes. The 400,000 barrel-a-day Jazan refinery, a frequent target of Houthi attacks, was shut down as a result.
The escalation of hostilities in the region bordering Yemen has deepened concerns about supply disruptions, driving Brent crude prices toward $100 a barrel. Energy shipments through the Strait of Hormuz remain restricted.
Saudi Arabia's defense ministry spokesman, Turki al-Maliki, vowed to 'take all necessary operational measures' to deter the Houthi militia and confront their hostile approach.
