Saudi Arabia: Misleading Video Claims to Show Air Base Attack
A recent video circulating on social media claims to show the aftermath of ballistic missile and drone strikes on Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia. However, an investigation by Misbar's team at Al-Araby TV found that the video is old and does not show a recent attack.
The video was actually recorded on March 6, 2026, and shows columns of smoke rising after a fire broke out at the Burjesia oil complex in Basra, southern Iraq. The fire followed a drone attack on the site, which sparked fires at offices and warehouses used by U.S. companies Halliburton and KBR.
The incident was part of a broader spillover of the U.S.-Israeli war with Iran into Iraq, including its oil facilities. Drones had also targeted the Sarsang oil field in the Kurdistan region, sparking a fire and forcing a halt to production.
Saudi Arabia has been facing escalating attacks amid regional tensions. A Saudi official warned that intelligence indicated the possibility of coordinated attacks on the kingdom by Iraqi armed factions and the Houthis in Yemen. The official said the attacks could target energy facilities, ports, and airports.
