Saudi Arabia Strikes Back Against Iranian-Backed Militants in Iraq
Saudi Arabia launched an attack on Iraq on July 28, marking a new escalation in the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
The strike, carried out in conjunction with US forces, targeted Iranian-backed militants in Iraq who had fired drones at Saudi oil facilities two days in a row.
The Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF), which operates under the umbrella of Iran-backed groups in Iraq, began to take shape after the 2003 US-led invasion and overthrow of Saddam Hussein's regime.
