Saudi Arabia Urges Trump to Prioritize Dialogue Amid Escalating US-Iran Tensions
Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman urged US President Donald Trump to prioritize dialogue in resolving the escalating tensions with Iran, according to a report from the official Saudi news agency SPA. This call for de-escalation comes after Trump canceled planned military strikes against Iran due to progress towards a diplomatic agreement and requests from Tehran and other Middle Eastern countries to hold off on attacks.
During a phone conversation between the two leaders, Prince Mohammed emphasized the need to prioritize dialogue to achieve regional de-escalation. He stated that this approach would yield positive results in maintaining regional security and stability, preventing it from being drawn into a wider conflict.
The Saudi crown prince's concerns were reportedly expressed after Axios reported that he had spoken with Trump to express the kingdom's concerns over planned new attacks against Iran. Since the Iran war began in late February, Iran has repeatedly responded to US-Israeli attacks by attacking Gulf states, including oil-rich Saudi Arabia.
