Saudi Arabian Strikes Spark Sharp Surge in Crude Oil Prices
A series of strikes on Saudi Arabian energy facilities has sent crude oil prices surging, benefiting oil and gas producers in the process.
The attacks, which targeted several energy facilities in the country's south, halted operations at key sites, including a major refinery with a capacity of 400,000 barrels per day.
The disruption sparked a sharp increase in global benchmark Brent crude futures, which rose by $1.00 to settle above $98.00 a barrel, while U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures jumped over $2.00 to reach $93.65 a barrel.
This spike in oil prices has provided a significant tailwind for upstream equities, with investors rotating capital into these stocks as a result of the geopolitical supply shock.
