Saudi Arabia's East-West Pipeline Expected to Resume Operations Within Days
The US Energy Secretary, Chris Wright, has stated that Saudi Arabia's East-West Pipeline should be operational within days. The pipeline was temporarily shut down due to attacks by Iran-aligned groups.
The East-West Pipeline is a vital route for global supplies of Middle Eastern oil, carrying 4 million to 5 million barrels per day, which accounts for 4% to 5% of global supply.
Saudi Arabia is taking steps to move more oil out of the Strait of Hormuz with assistance from the US military. However, sources have given varying estimates of how long the pipeline will be offline, ranging from days to five to six weeks to repair.
