Saudi Arabia's East-West Pipeline Halted Amid Drone Attack

The East-West pipeline in Saudi Arabia, a key oil transport route, has been suspended due to disruptions. A drone attack on September 13 is believed to have caused damage to the pipeline, which transports crude oil from the eastern Saudi oilfield to the port of Yanbu on the Red Sea coast.

The pipeline, which is approximately 1,200 kilometers long, typically transports between 4 million and 5 million barrels of crude oil per day. This accounts for around 4-5% of the world's total crude oil supply.

International oil prices surged 2% to nearly $108 a barrel on September 14 as concerns about supply disruptions grew. If the pipeline remains shut down, it could reduce global crude oil supply by up to 4%.
