Saudi Arabia's Energy Facilities Disrupted by Recent Attacks

Energy facilities across Saudi Arabia have been disrupted by recent attacks, according to a Saudi Energy Ministry official. The attacks targeted oil and gas production, transportation, and refining assets, as well as petrochemical and power facilities in Riyadh, the Eastern Province, and Yanbu Industrial City.

The attacks resulted in the death of a Saudi national from the industrial security personnel at Saudi Energy Co., and injuries to seven other employees. Several operational processes were disrupted at key energy facilities, including a pumping station on the critical East-West pipeline, which caused a loss of around 700,000 barrels per day in throughput.

The Manifa production facility was also targeted, resulting in a reduction of nearly 300,000 bpd. The Khurais facility had previously been targeted, leading to a reduction of 300,000 bpd, trimming the Kingdom's overall capacity by 600,000 bpd. Major refining facilities such as SATORP in Jubail, Ras Tanura refinery, SAMREF in Yanbu, and Riyadh refinery were also hit.

The attacks extended to processing facilities in Ju'aymah, impacting exports of LPG and natural gas liquids. The Energy Ministry stated that continued attacks are tightening supply and slowing recovery, undermining supply security for importing countries and increasing volatility in oil markets.
