Saudi Arabia's Non-Oil Economy Drives Revenue Growth
Saudi Arabia's operating revenues rose 6.1% in June compared to the same month last year, driven by growth in its non-oil economy.
The General Authority for Statistics (GaStat) reported that manufacturing revenue climbed 16.9%, financial and insurance activities rose 16.9%, and transportation and storage gained 18.4%, with construction and wholesale and retail trade also contributing to the increase.
However, a closer look at the month-to-month data reveals a 3.2% decline in operating revenues due to a sharp drop in mining and quarrying, which fell by 27.3% from May's levels.
This volatility is not uncommon in commodity-linked sectors where output and prices can fluctuate rapidly, making one-month movements a potentially misleading indicator of the broader economy.
