Saudi Arabia's Oil Pipeline Hit by Projectiles in Suspected Drone Attack

A key oil pipeline system in Saudi Arabia was hit by projectiles on Thursday, sparking fires at pumping stations.

According to a CNN report citing two US officials familiar with the matter, an initial assessment found that pump stations located next to the East-West Pipeline were struck, resulting in extensive fire damage and a separate blaze sending up thick black smoke.

The pipeline, which carries crude from Saudi Arabia's eastern oil-producing region to the Red Sea port of Yanbu, was reportedly hit by drones originating from Iraq, although it remains unclear who was responsible for the attack or whether the pipeline itself sustained physical damage.
