Saudi Arabia's Oil Pipeline Shutdown Exacerbates Regional Tensions
The ongoing US-Iran conflict has escalated into a crisis for Saudi Arabia and its de facto leader, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Despite being spared from the worst of Iran's counterstrikes early in the conflict, the kingdom was benefiting from higher crude prices due to a bypass pipeline through land.
However, this situation changed when the key oil pipeline that allowed Saudi Arabia to transport its crude without relying on the Strait of Hormuz was shut down for weeks. This development has put pressure on the kingdom and its de facto leader, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
