Saudi Aramco Pipeline Damage Threatens Global Oil Supply
Concerns have emerged in the oil market following strikes on Saudi Aramco's East-West Pipeline. According to sources, the damage is significant enough that it will take three to five weeks to fully restore flows through the conduit.
The attack damaged a major pumping facility, which was essential for maintaining pressure and flow rates along the 750-mile pipeline. Despite efforts to bypass the damaged section, officials remain unsure about the volume of crude the line can transport without the facility's pressure-boosting capabilities.
In response to the pipeline stoppage, Saudi Aramco plans to increase oil shipments via the disputed Strait of Hormuz, which has seen a surge in shuttle tanker operations in recent weeks. This move aims to mitigate any consequences from reduced activity at Yanbu.
