Saudi Aramco's Crude Oil Shipments to China Plummet
Saudi Aramco's crude oil shipments to China in July were significantly lower than pre-war levels, according to Reuters. The company delivered approximately 12 million barrels of crude oil to China, with a daily volume of 387,000 barrels.
This marks the second consecutive month that Sinopec has not purchased Saudi crude oil. Rongsheng Petrochemical also saw a significant reduction in its procurement scale of Saudi crude oil, falling short of pre-war regular volumes.
Market analysis suggests that insufficient price competitiveness is the direct reason for Chinese refineries reducing their purchases of Saudi crude oil.
The shift towards diversifying import sources is a result of China's years-long promotion of hedging against fluctuations in Middle Eastern geopolitics and risks in maritime shipping routes. Industry insiders state that this multi-source procurement model possesses both strategic necessity and market rationality.
