Saudi-Backed AI Firm Humain Teams Up for Red Sea Data Center
Saudi Arabia's Humain, an artificial intelligence company backed by the kingdom's wealth fund PIF, has partnered with digital infrastructure firm DataVolt to develop a 100-megawatt data center in Oxagon, an industrial city under development on the Red Sea coast. The facility will integrate renewable energy sources and innovative cooling technologies, making it available in 2028.
The partnership is part of a wider 1.5-gigawatt AI campus planned by DataVolt at Oxagon, which will also include high-performance computing clusters. Firms involved expect the project to benefit from Oxagon's pre-zoned industrial land availability and access to low-latency computing via subsea cable connectivity.
The Saudi government is pouring hundreds of billions of dollars into transforming its economy and reducing reliance on oil revenue, with investment in various sectors including AI. Humain aims to target 6 GW of capacity by 2034.
