Saudi Firm Signs $200M Oil, Gas Deal in Afghanistan
Saudi Arabia's Delta Energy International has signed a $200 million contract with Afghanistan's Ministry of Mines and Petroleum to explore and extract oil and gas from the Kushk-Tirpul field in Herat province.
The initial investment is valued at $200 million, and the contract has a duration of 25 years. The company also plans to invest nearly $60 billion over 10 years to develop Afghanistan's energy sector, pending exploration results and other factors.
The Kushk-Tirpul oil and gas basin covers nearly 22,000 square kilometers and includes seven blocks in Herat and Badghis provinces.
