Saudi Oil Facilities Under Drone Attack From Iraqi Territory
Saudi Arabia's oil facilities in the Eastern Province and the capital Riyadh came under drone attacks on Monday, prompting the kingdom to defend itself.
The Saudi Defence Ministry spokesman, Turki al-Maliki, stated that the drones were intercepted and destroyed by the country's military. He attributed the attacks to 'Iran-backed terrorist militias' operating from Iraqi territory.
Saudi Arabia has reserved the right to respond at an appropriate time and place, Al-Maliki stressed. The ministry did not initially provide details on any possible damage or casualties.
The incident has prompted Saudi Arabia's Foreign Ministry to condemn the attack and call on the Iraqi government to take necessary measures to prevent its territory from being used as a launchpad for attacks.
