Saudi Oil Output Hits Lowest Level Since 1990 Amid Houthi Attacks
Saudi Arabia's oil production has hit its lowest level since 1990 due to ongoing attacks by Houthi rebels. In August, Saudi output plummeted to around 6.2 million barrels per day, a 23% decline from July.
The drop in production is attributed to the Houthis' increased targeting of Saudi energy infrastructure and shipping in the Red Sea. The group claimed attacks on Saudi oil tankers and facilities in Yanbu and Jazan, causing fires and wounding over 70 people.
The situation is further complicated by the ongoing US-Iran conflict, which has disrupted trade through the Strait of Hormuz. As a result, both major export routes are under strain, adding pressure to global energy supplies.
