Saudi Oil Pipeline Attacked by Drones from Iraq
A key Saudi oil pipeline was shut down after being attacked by drones from Iraq, exacerbating tensions in the region.
The pipeline, which is a critical energy route for Saudi Arabia, was hit by projectiles on Thursday. According to an early analysis, pump stations located next to the pipeline were targeted, with satellite images showing extensive fire damage at one pumping station and a small fire sending up plumes of black smoke at another.
The US officials familiar with the matter said it's unclear who was responsible for the strikes or if sections of the pipeline itself were damaged. However, US President Donald Trump suggested that Iran was likely behind the attack when asked about the incident during a visit to Ireland.
'I think they are, probably they are,' Trump told journalists in Dublin.
