Saudi Oil Pipeline Attacked by Iran-Backed Militias
A Saudi oil pipeline attack has been blamed on Iran-backed militias in Iraq. The incident occurred as regional officials reported that the Houthis and Iraqi militias recently coordinated attacks on Saudi Arabia.
The East-West pipeline, which was shut down due to the attack, is a key route for Saudi Arabia's oil exports. In June, Saudi Arabia had more than doubled its oil exports from the Red Sea port at the pipeline's end to over 5 million barrels per day.
U.S. President Donald Trump stated that Iran was 'probably' responsible for the pipeline attack. However, he also said that the Houthis would prefer not to fight with the U.S.
