Saudi Oil Production Hits Lowest Since 1990 Amid US-Iran Tensions
Saudi Arabia's crude oil production plummeted to its lowest level since 1990 in August 2026, as tensions between the US and Iran escalated. According to Trading Economics data, Saudi Arabia produced 6.238 million barrels a day, down 1.9 million barrels from July.
The decline in production was not reflected in oil supplies to the market, however, which reached 7.122 million barrels a day in August. This suggests that the kingdom may have relied on inventories to maintain oil supplies amid ongoing disruptions.
