Saudi Oil Refinery Sees Tank Fire After Houthi Attack
A Saudi oil refinery appeared to be on fire after an attack by Yemen's Houthis over the weekend. Satellite images from the European Union's Sentinel 2 orbiter showed a fire at one tank in the Jazan oil refinery, which has a daily processing capacity of 400,000 barrels.
The flare tower east of the site was also seen billowing smoke, indicating that the refinery was burning off excess gas. Flaring towers are crucial safety valves for industrial sites like oil refineries.
