Saudi Oil Tankers Attacked in Strait of Hormuz Amid Escalating Tensions
Two Saudi oil tankers were attacked in the Strait of Hormuz on Monday evening, just minutes apart. The supertankers, Sidr and Senegal Prosperity, were carrying 2 million barrels each of Saudi crude oil that was loaded at the Juaymah terminal last week.
The incident is a further escalation in the threat environment within the Omani corridor. Shipping intelligence firms Marisks and Kpler reported the attacks, which occurred while the tankers were transiting outbound through the Strait of Hormuz.
Oil prices gained on Tuesday after US President Donald Trump threatened further strikes against Iran following the first exchanges of fire since late July.
