Saudi Pipeline Closed After Multiple Attacks, Regional Energy Supplies at Risk
The East-West oil pipeline in Saudi Arabia has been closed after multiple attacks on September 10, 2026. According to the Ministry of Energy, the facility was targeted by attackers, resulting in several injuries that received medical care.
The pipeline, also known as Petroline, is a strategic energy asset for Riyadh, carrying approximately 5 million barrels of oil per day from Abqaiq to Yanbu on the Red Sea. The Saudi ministry reported that emergency teams and specialized technicians intervened at the site, securing the facility and assessing its integrity.
The attacks come just hours after the pro-Iranian Houthi movement took control of Mokha, a port city on the Red Sea in Yemen. This development has further jeopardized energy supplies in the region, with oil prices surpassing $100 a barrel due to sharp fluctuations triggered by recent events.
