Saudi Pipeline Halt Sends Oil Prices Soaring
Oil prices have surged to a four-month high after Saudi Arabia halted operations on its East-West pipeline following drone attacks. The disruption has caused Brent crude to rise towards $108 per barrel, marking an almost 9% increase from last week's prices.
The decision to shut the pipeline was made as a precautionary measure by Saudi Arabia, with no indication yet of when operations will resume. This move has added to the already heightened tensions in the region following Thursday's attacks, which have disrupted a key route used to bypass the Strait of Hormuz.
Talks between Iran and several Gulf nations on establishing a temporary shipping lane through Hormuz were postponed due to the ongoing security concerns. Oman's Foreign Minister Badr Albusaidi confirmed that the discussions would be put on hold until further notice, highlighting the escalating situation in the area.
