Saudi Pipeline Halted by Drone Attack Amid Middle East Tensions
Saudi Arabia has temporarily closed its critical East-West oil pipeline after it was attacked by drones on Friday. The 1,200km conduit stretches across the Arabian Peninsula and is a vital artery for the kingdom's energy exports.
The drones were reportedly launched from Iraq, where an investigation is underway to identify those responsible for the strike.
The closure of the pipeline has halted the flow of Saudi oil exports, which have already been disrupted by the closure of the Strait of Hormuz since March. This strategic chokepoint has become increasingly important due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
