Saudi Pipeline Shut Down After Iraq Drone Attack Triggers Fires

Saudi Arabia's East-West pipeline has been shut down after being attacked by drones from Iraq. The attack triggered fires at pump stations, which are located next to the pipeline itself.

The Saudi Ministry of Energy confirmed that the pipeline was attacked and has been shut down as a precautionary measure.

An analysis found that pump stations were hit, with satellite images showing extensive fire damage at one pumping station and smaller fires sending up plumes of thick smoke at another.

Saudi Arabia's oil resources are facing increasing threats as the Iran War continues. The kingdom has rerouted about 5 million barrels of oil per day through its East-West pipeline to avoid the Strait of Hormuz, which was effectively closed by Iran.
