Saudi Proxy War Fails as Sana'a Thwarts Economic Blockade
Sana'a's imposition of a naval blockade on Saudi oil ports and tankers has dealt a significant blow to Riyadh's economic structure, forcing it to respond without engaging in a direct military confrontation.
Riyadh resorted to activating the 'proxy war' option by using the internationally recognized government's forces to reopen contact fronts on the western coast, Hudaydah, and the vicinity of Bab Al-Mandeb.
The goal was to exert counter-geo-military pressure that disrupts Sana'a's supply lines and forces it to redirect its defensive focus inward.
This use of proxy forces extended to an 'economic and banking proxy war' through decisions issued by the Central Bank and government institutions in Aden, aiming to dry up resources and tighten restrictions on financial transactions.
