Saudi Refinery Fire Extinguished Amid Ongoing Houthi Attacks

A fire broke out at Aramco's Jazan refinery in south-western Saudi Arabia, but was quickly extinguished by firefighters. The Saudi Energy Ministry said there were no injuries and that the relevant authorities are completing procedures to deal with the incident. The cause of the fire is still unknown.

The Jazan refinery processes 400,000 barrels of crude oil a day and produces refined products such as petrol and ultra-light sulphur diesel. In July, the refinery was shut down following an attack by Yemen's Houthi militants that damaged the plant's Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle complex and tank farm area.

Aramco chief Amin Nasser said recent attacks on the company's facilities had caused some production interruptions, but he was confident operations could be restored quickly. He stated that the attacks had no material operational or financial impact.
