Saudi Tanker Attacked in Strait of Hormuz Incident Kills Two Filipino Sailors
Two Filipino sailors lost their lives in an incident involving a Saudi tanker transiting the Strait of Hormuz on August 31. The vessel, operated by Bahri, was struck by unknown projectiles while sailing out of the strait.
The International Maritime Organisation (IMO) had recorded 70 confirmed maritime incidents and 19 seafarer deaths in the region as of August 26, prior to this latest attack.
The Strait of Hormuz is a critical energy corridor, carrying about a fifth of global oil supplies. The incident has heightened risks for commercial shipping in the area.
