Saudi-US Nuclear Deal Boosts MBS's Vision 2030 Ambitions
The US-Saudi Arabia nuclear agreement has significant implications for Saudi Vision 2030, the ambitious plan to transform the kingdom into a modern, liberalized society.
Launched in 2016 by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS), the program aims to reduce the kingdom's dependence on oil revenues and increase economic diversification.
The agreement, signed on July 22, 2026, will allow Saudi Arabia to cooperate with the US on civil nuclear development for 30 years, without joining the Abraham Accords or banning uranium enrichment domestically.
US President Donald Trump clarified that the deal is subject to Saudi Arabia joining the Abraham Accords and emphasized that it will not permit uranium enrichment for military purposes.
