SCCO Stock Soars on Strong First-Half Results

Share

Southern Copper Corporation (SCCO) shares have surged 40.9% year-to-date, outperforming its peers and major indices. The company's strong first-half results and rising copper prices are driving this performance. Copper prices have increased by 48.2% in a year to $6.6 per pound, supported by tight global supply and robust demand.

Despite lower production volumes, Southern Copper reported record second-quarter revenues of $4.29 billion, contributing to a 38.4% year-over-year increase in its six-month top-line to $8.54 billion. The company's adjusted EBITDA for the first half of 2026 rose 57.5% year over year to $5.57 billion, with an expanded adjusted EBITDA margin of 65.2%.

However, Southern Copper's total copper production decreased by 3.8% in the first half of 2026 due to lower output at its Peruvian operations. The company has slightly revised its 2026 copper production outlook upwards to 917,000 tons from 910,000 tons, still implying a 5% year-over-year decline.
