Scotland's £1.2 Billion Energy Bill Burden

Scotland is shouldering an additional £25 million in costs every week due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, according to new analysis from the Energy and Climate Intelligence Unit (ECIU).

The ECIU found that oil and gas price volatility has added around £90 to the average Scottish household's energy costs since the start of the US-Iran war.

Since the conflict began in March, Scottish households have incurred almost £230 million in additional costs, with road fuel prices accounting for over half of this figure.

The ECIU warned that these costs are likely to rise further as gas prices remain high and energy bills continue to increase.
