Scotland's Wheat Supply Gets a Local Boost with New Flour Mill

A new flour mill at Auldhame Farm in East Lothian will enable Company Bakery to support local farmers and strengthen food resilience, producing fresh flour from specialist grains.

The £170,000 project has received almost £66,000 from the Scottish Government's Food and Drink Processing Scheme and will create four jobs. The mill, Tantallon Mill, will process up to 500 tonnes of wheat a year at full capacity.

Company Bakery, which supplies restaurants, hotels, and cafes across Scotland, is returning to its roots with this project. When the bakery was founded in Edinburgh in 2017, it had a small Austrian stone mill that allowed its founders to mill organic Scottish grain themselves.
