Scrap Metal Prices See Mixed Movement in North America
The North American scrap metal market showed mixed price movements during the week of July 24-30, 2026. Copper, aluminum, brass, bronze, and lead scrap prices all rose, while zinc and steel scrap remained flat, and stainless steel declined.
Copper scrap prices continued to increase, with benchmark grades like #2 Copper Wire and Tubing rising by $0.13 per pound (2.15%) and #1 Copper Bare Bright increasing by 2.08%. The strong demand for copper across the North American market contributed to these gains.
Aluminum scrap prices also showed a modest upward trend, with E.C. Aluminum Wire leading the way at 1.40% week-over-week growth. However, not all aluminum grades experienced price movement, with some remaining unchanged.
Brass and bronze scrap prices continued to rise, with Yellow Brass advancing by 0.85% and Red Brass increasing by 0.82%. The steady demand for these metals in the North American market supported their price growth.
